I'm reading a few books right now, I usually am, one about real estate, one about the journey of our souls and another to help me get a handle on my crazy life. The one about managing my crazy life is called "Let Them" and it's by the amazing Mel Robbins. I'm trying to install her 5,4,3,2,1 method to help me face things I want to avoid. Reading "Journey of our Souls" has been a great book to help me sleep as well. It focuses and relaxes my brain at the same time, getting the "monkey mind" under control. So many times when I am trying to meditate or relax my mind just starts to run, making mental lists of what I need to do that day or events coming up on the calendar. I met someone recently and we were talking about meditation and I said "I'm so bad at it, I just start thinking about all kinds of things." They said that it's okay for thoughts to come and go, that is normal, she said, "think of your mind like the ocean and thoughts as waves, they come in and they go out." so let them in and let them out. That advice has stuck with me these past weeks and I'm grateful for the advice.
