Tips & Tricks for Decluttering Your Home

Decluttering your home can lead to a more peaceful and less stressful living environment. A tidy space can improve your mood, boost productivity, and even enhance sleep quality. It also simplifies cleaning and organization, giving you more time to enjoy your home.

Here are some tips to help you declutter effectively:

  • Start Small: Instead of tackling your entire home at once, focus on one small area, like a single drawer, shelf, or cabinet. This approach helps build momentum and prevents overwhelm.

  • Categorize Items: As you go through your belongings, sort them into distinct categories: "Keep," "Donate," "Sell," and "Throw Away." This structured method helps in making decisions about each item.

  • Ask Key Questions: For each item, consider its utility and emotional value. Ask yourself if you love it, if you've used it recently, or if you would buy it again today. If an item doesn't serve a purpose or bring you joy, it might be time to let it go.

  • Implement the "One In, One Out" Rule: To prevent future clutter, commit to getting rid of one item every time you bring a new one into your home.

  • Don't Organize Clutter: Resist the urge to buy storage containers before decluttering. First, decide what you're keeping, then invest in organizational tools for those items.

  • Address Paper Clutter: Establish a system for incoming papers, creating categories like "shred," "file," or "recycle." Having a designated spot for important documents that require action can prevent piles from forming.

  • Regular Maintenance: Decluttering is not a one-time event but an ongoing process. Schedule short, regular decluttering sessions to maintain a tidy living space.

  • Remove Donations Promptly: Once you've filled a box with items to donate, take it out of your home as soon as possible to avoid it becoming another source of clutter.

COUNTER

(formerly: Beautycounter) has arrived!

I have been a Beautycounter consultant since I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and found out the make up products I was using contained known carcinogens and it was perfectly legal. I also found out that a lot of skin care products contain hormone disrupters and that is legal too. Join me in making a change because

"No one should have to wonder if their lipstick gave them cancer."

"You can't withstand the storm."

The Warrior replied:

"I AM THE STORM!"
